Winter Chic

This look is perfect for the holiday season, it incorporates some of my favorite winter pieces and involves a lot of layering to keep warm in the freezing Chicago weather! The two key pieces are the thick white ribbed turtleneck and the black faux leather skirt. Turtlenecks are one of my absolute favorite things to wear this season, they can be worn in so many different ways and add a hint of sophistication to any outfit. I’m also loving statement skirts made from faux leather, corduroy, denim, etc. In winter I often feel hesitant wearing skirts because of the cold, but by layering two pairs of tights, it becomes a lot more bearable! I also layered a thick plaid red scarf, a warm wool-blend coat, a beanie, and some gloves to add extra warmth. The coat is extremely versatile and can be worn with the zipper open or closed, I went with open for this look just because I had the thick blanket scarf on as well. I love the festive colors in the scarf, it adds a pop to the rest of the neutral outfit. I also accessorized with my small silver watch, and my black silver buckled boots. When adding so many layers, I like to keep jewelry very minimal just so I don’t feel overwhelmed with my accessories. Layering can definitely add substance and style to your look but it must be carefully executed in order to avoid looking too bulky. Overall, this outfit is perfect for any fun winter activities with friends and family!
